A starboard bow view of a ship's gig with a boat load of sailors and other people in civilian clothes

A starboard bow view of a ship's gig with a boat load of sailors and other people in civilian clothes. Some of the sailors are paddling while others are rowing. The gig is rigged with one mast and crosstrees from which flags are limply flying, so she may have been the race committee boat. In the background is Harwich quay with the Great Eastern Hotel to the right of the mast.

Aurora (1913) had at least one 30ft gig and this is during one of the Harwich Force regattas.
