A view of the entrance to the officers' quarters, wardroom and mess at HMS Drake, HM Naval Base Devonport, taken from the front lawns. The main block is dominated by the entrance tower, a tetrastyle Ionic porch that is approached by a double L-plan staircase.

Aurora was in Devonport in late 1914 fitting out, then again between 28 June and 6 July 1915. She did not visit during 1916 and 1917.
