Armillary sphere.The primary spere of 12 cm diameter consists of eight cardboard rings with red painted rims and and covered with printed waxed paper. Two rings are fixed perpendicuarly to each other and represent the colures. Five parallel rings are fixed perpendicularly to the colures and represent the polar circles, the tropics and the equator. The zodiacal band is fixed to the colures and shows the symbols and the French names for the signs of the zodiac. Inside the primary sphere, there are two movable arcs of brass connected to a short brass axis fixed at the north ecliptic pole. These arcs represent the Sun and the Moon. In the centre, there is a small equatorial globe mounted on an equatorial axis. The globe has tiny paper gores. The primary sphere is mounted by metal pins in the wooden meridian ring.
