A port broadside view of the White Star Line cruise ship Calgaric (1918) at anchor in Geirangerfjord off Merok, Norway
A slightly distant port broadside view of the White Star Line cruise ship Calgaric (1918) at anchor in Geirangerfjord off Merok, Norway. She has bunting at her foremast and mainmast and five sets of boat davits are swung out over the side where the boats have been launched. One of her boats amidships is suspended just above the water while another is alongside the aft accommodation ladder. Two more boats are standing by her stern and a motor tender is heading back to the ship from the shore. A line of thin cloud is well below the tops of the mountains in the background.
The Calgaric undertook eight cruises in Scandinavian waters between 1928 and 1933 and she was used for a cruise to the Baltic and North Sea by the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides under Lord Baden Powell, the so-called Peace Cruise of the Boy Scout movement, 12-29 August, 1933.
