A 35mm roll film negative. On board the Rothesay class type 12 frigate Rhyl (1959) in Devonport Dockyard. In the junior rates mess on 3 deck between 27 and 31 stations. The photographer is looking aft from the forward end of the mess to port of the centreline showing two kit lockers and a 3 tier bunk unit rigged for sitting on the right, with more kit lockers on the left. A distribution panel, an automatic emergency lantern, two kit lockers and an electric fire are on the aft bulkhead 31. The watertight hatch leading down to 4 deck is on the left and a folding table is in the centre. The photograph was taken prior to 9 May 1972.
