Hermes (1953). A large galley and servery during conversion.

A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is below decks in a large galley and servery. On the left are stacks of roasting tins and a mixing machine. On the right is a stainless steel worktop with two shelves above. A tin of cleansing paste is on top of a waste disposal unit which is next to an arched opening. On the bulkhead in the background are storage shelves containing all sort of pots and pans and two milk churns. The photographer has allocated the number 4 to this location.
