A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the compass platform on 02 deck looking to port and forward showing the navigator's chair. The pelorus is on the right and various distance, range and bearing indicators are mounted on the bulkhead. Two telephones, a microphone and an electric fire are in front of the chair. Seen through the windows is the landing ship dock Fearless (1963) udergoing refit in the dockyard.
