Hermes (1953). In the main communications office (upper) on 02 deck during conversion.
A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the main communications office (upper) on 02 deck looking to port in the aft corner showing two operator's positions, each equipped with a morse key. The left position has a notice board by the side and has two S.S.B. units above the desk, one of which has not yet been fitted into its cabinet and a C.P.O's cap is in the cabinet instead. The right position has a receiver unit and an empty S.S.B. cabinet with a ratings cap in it.
