A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in one of the 15 commando group other ranks messes on 4 deck between stations 96 and 177, showing four large steel units, each with two lifting handles at the end, on the deck, two being in front of a sink unit and padlocked equipment locker. An automatic emergency lantern is on the bulkhead beyond the equipment locker. A watertight hatch, kit lockers and three tier bunks are on the right.
