A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the main commando group other ranks mess on the port side of 4 deck between 150 and 165 stations. He is looking along the central aisle showing rows of three tier bunks on either side. An automatic emergency lantern is by the side of the door in the end bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
