A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the junior rates and other ranks dining hall and counter area on 4 deck between 40 and 50 stations. He is looking forward and to starboard from the centre of the hall showing a table and chairs laid out in the foreground. On the forward bulkhead are two watertight doors and the one on the left has an automatic emergency lantern by the side. The self service counters are on the starboard side of the hall.
