On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in an unidentified junior rates or other ranks mess on the forward end of 4 or 5 deck. He is looking between two three tier bunk units and on the bulkhead is a sign 'Defense D'Uriner'. A colour negative. Negatives numbers PM3146/7CN, PM3146/9CN, PM3146/10CN and PM3146/11CN are all very similar.
