A 35mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in June 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the ground equipment storing and servicing area at the fore end of the hangar between 50 and 65 stations on 3 deck. He is looking to starboard from the port side showing a steel work unit fitted with two vices on the forward bulkhead. A telephone and a first aid cabinets are mounted above the steel work unit. Cupboards and a watertight door are on the starboard bulkhead and a vertical steel ladder on the right leads up to the tyre bay. A wheeled box marked 'Box 1 A/E ground equipment' is on the deck.
