A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking forward towards the deck edge lift from 146 station. Two cable reels are on the left and power units are on the right with a perforated steel plate beyond them. The ship's brow and some large containers are on the flight deck. The aircraft carrier Ark Royal (1950) can be seen in the background berthed at No. 5 wharf. A vertical format negative.
