Hermes (1953). On the flight (1) deck during conversion.

A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is above the port flight (1) deck walkway looking forward from 174 station. A power outlet point, fire point No. 18 and a locker are in the walkway and the winch and the forward gantry for the aft LCVP (landing craft vehicle and personnel) is beyond the walkway. The aft LCVP is slung under the gantries but the forward LCVP has not yet been hoisted aboard. A vertical format negative.
