On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port flight (1) deck walkway looking forward from 206 station. A ladderway leading down to 2 deck, a firepoint and chemical foam locker and a spare ensign staff are in the walkway. The MRS3 director is on the left and the island superstructure is on the right.
