The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The 4.5 inch gun turret and the forecastle from on top of the bridge.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the roof of the enclosed bridge looking forward from 27 station showing the 4.5 inch twin Mark VI gun turret and the forecastle. The turret has a whip aerial on the roof. Berthed ahead of the Lowestoft (1960) on the south side of the basin is the coastal survey vessel Fox (1967) and on the west side of the basin are a trawler converted to a tank cleaning vessel and a modern water boat. A vertical format negative.
