On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the combined radar office between 36½ and 41 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking forward and to starboard. The door to the compartment is on the right with two fire extinguishers and an automatic emergency lantern next to it. A work table with telephones and a switchboard is in the forward starboard corner. The rest of the office is full of electronic and electrical equipment.
