On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the gunner's store between 65 and 67 stations on 4 deck looking forward from the door at 67 station showing open shelves stacked full of gear including mess tins, canvas bagsand pouches and webbing belts. Plastic buckets are on a top shelf on the left. Wooden poles and a filled kit bag are on the deck. A glass fronted notice board and a pinboard are against the bulkhead on the right. A vertical format negative.
