On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 27 and 31 stations on 3 deck looking to port from the starboard side at 27½ station showing triple tier bunk units on the left with kit lockers and two air conditioning units on the right. In the background are the stairs leading up to the passageway on 2 decki. A vertical format negative.
