On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the canteen between 18½ and 21 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking aft from 19 station showing the entrance door with the serving hatch open. Storage racks, shelves and cupboards are on both sides of the canteen. Identifiable stores include Daz soap powder, Heinz baked beans, Heinz spaghetti, dimple beer mugs, various sweets, NAAFI plain chocolate wheatcake biscuits, various cigarettes, Vosene shampoo, Polo mints and Rizla cigarette papers. A vertical format negative.
