On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the conversion machinery compartment between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward and to port. On the deck in the foreground are the 12 volt battery stowage and two motor generators with two dual output motor generators, a director metadyne and a small motor generator beyond. The door to the compartment is in the port bulkhead and next to it are the dual motor generators starters and four auto voltage regulators. Against the forward bulkhead are excitation units for the dual output generators, power and fuse panels and a transformer. Four rectifier units are against the starboard side of the ship.
