On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the operations room between 31¼ and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking aft and to starboard from the centreline at 34 station showing the signalmen's desk equipped with morse keys, a fleet disposition board, a stateboard, loudspeakers, a speaking tube and a clock reading 4.03. At the end of the desk are units shown on Admiralty plan number 899643/1 (NMM plan number NPD1588) as being a 'K.H.F. L/S' with a receiver/transmitter unit above it. The door of the room is on the right. Against the ship's side on the left is a wooden bench with drawers and two display power units under it. The bench is labelled 'Alt. G.O.P. Posn.'
