On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is on top of the enclosed bridge on 02 deck level looking aft from 29 station showing the air lookouts and the gun direction officer's position in the foreground. The Mark 6M director is forward of the Type 277Q radar aerial which is, in turn, ahead of the foremast. The foremast has an aerial for the type 293Q radar to port, an aerial for the type 978 radar to starboard and the HF/DF coil for the FH4 radio at the masthead. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. Visible aft of the Falmouth is the stern of the tanker Solen (1961) which was launched 30 May 1961 and is fitting out. A vertical format negative.
