On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the engine room between 49 and 57 stations on 4 deck looking to starboard and aft from the port side on the middle platform at 50 station showing the main control position. On the extreme left are a telephone and two switch boxes. The port and starboard gauge panels fitted with the steam open and closed wheels dominate the photograph. Emergency steam cut off valves and a first aid cabinet are fitted to the side of the port gauge panel. The face of the port turbine is on the right.
