On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the conversion machinery compartment between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft and to starboard from 32½ station on the port side of the compartment. In the foreground are the 12 volt battery stowage and two motor generators. Against the aft bulkhead are the control boards and rectifiers for the motor generators, a fuse panel and a battery charging resistance panel. Against the starboard side of the ship are a large rectifier and two rectifiers for 20 inch searchlights.
