The Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959). On the forecastle looking forward.

On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the forecastle at 10 station on 1 deck looking forward. The capstan has a canvas cover over it. Awning stanchions and wires have been rigged. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Bayleaf (1955) is berthed ahead. At the Mid-Tyne Ferry pier on the Hebburn side of the river are two of the diesel driven ferries Tyne Queen (1949), Tyne Princess (1940) and Tyne Duchess (1940).
