On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the asdic control room between 35½ and 39 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft and to port showing the asdic control officer's chair on a raised paltform in the middle of the room. Three chairs are on the right and another three are alongside consoles on the left. An asdic type 177 junction box and a ship's speed recorder are against the aft bulkhead in the alcove and various recorders, including a range and bearing retransmission unit are against the inboard bulkhead of the alcove. Beyond the control officer's chair are the positions of the bearing recorder and the communications rating. The control room door is on the right.
