On board the guided missile destroyer HMS Kent (1961) in No. 3 Basin in Chatham Dockyard, Kent. The photographer is in the main communications office between 66 and 71 stations on 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from the centre of the office showing an automatic emergency lantern by the side of the door to the office. Two desks are in the corner, each with a two drawer filing cabinet under it and with two combination safes and two combination lockers above them. On one of the desks is an hand operated duplicating machine. On the right is a desk with an Imperial 66 short carriage typewriter and a telephone on it. Sliding door cupboards are at high level.
