On board the guided missile destroyer HMS Kent (1961) in No. 3 Basin in Chatham Dockyard, Kent. The photographer is in the main communications office between 66 and 71 stations on 2 deck looking into the forward starboard corner showing a bay equipped with two typewriter/teleprinters, one of which has part of the casing removed. Pigeon hole shelves are above this bay. Rack 19 containing distribution units is on the left. Two junction boxes are against the starboard bulkhead forward of the door to the office. A vertical format negative with a large top to bottom mark, possibly a camera strap in front of the lens.
