On board the guided missile destroyer HMS Kent (1961) in No. 3 Basin in Chatham Dockyard, Kent. The photographer is in the operations room between 58 and 66 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from the port side at 64 station showing a three inch rocket launcher control box in the foreground. An automatic emergency lantern is fixed to a pillar and a workbench with cupboards and drawers under are in the centre. On the left is a horizontal visual display unit. A rating is working on a unit which has a vertical screen above it against the forward bulkhead. To starboard of this unit is a large communications console which is fitted with a dialling ring. Air conditioning vents and headsets are against the starboard bulkhead.
