On board the guided missile destroyer HMS Kent (1961) in No. 3 Basin in Chatham Dockyard, Kent. The photographer is in the operations room between 58 and 66 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from the centreline at 64 station showing an automatic emergency lantern fixed to a pillar on the extreme left. A workbench with cupboards and drawers under and bookshelves above is in the centre with an horizontal visual display unit next to it.. Air conditioning vents and headsets are against the starboard bulkhead. The photographer refers to this as the 'flag area'.
