On board the guided missile destroyer HMS Kent (1961) in No. 3 Basin in Chatham Dockyard, Kent. The photographer is in the gun direction position at the base of the foremast between 66 and 67 stations on 04 deck looking forward and to port from the starboard side showing the shatterproof windscreens. A telephone direct to the operations room is on the right next to a relay box for the bell or gong circuits. A weatherproof cabinet is fixed to the forward screen and a canvas covered instrument, possibly the gun direction officer's sight, is in the left foreground. A Leander class frigate is leasving number 3 basin via the North Lock.
