On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 68 and 75 stations on 3 deck looking aft from 69 station on the starboard side showing three double tier settee bunk units on the left against the ship's side. An air conditioning unit, a cleaning gear locker, two boot lockers and five kit lockers are against the aft bulkhead. A triple tier settee bunk unit, kit lockers and an ironing board are on the right. Three tables and chairs and two waste bins are in the centre of the deck. A portable record player and some records are on one of the tables.
