On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of 1 deck at about 57 station abreast the torpedo maintenance compartment looking forward. A life saving scramble net is outside the guardrails in the foreground. The starboard ammunition derrick is stowed against the superstructure and the ship's nameboard is on the side of the torpedo stowage compartment. The ship is berthed starboard side to the wall and the 250 ton cantilever crane, built by Sir William Arrol & Co in 1917, is in the background.
