On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the hangar between 49 and 57 stations on 1 deck looking forward and to port from 51 station showing a cleaning tank with two taps on the left next to the doorway. Forward of the door are an automatic emergency lantern, a control box, a flight deck foul weather clothing locker, a fire extinguisher, a fire hose basket and a Thermotank air conditioning unit. On the right is a workbench with a vice fitted and above the bench is an hydraulic winch. the ship is berthed starboard side to the wall. A vertical format negative.
