On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the hangar between 49 and 57 stations on 1 deck looking forward and to port from 57 station showing the flying director officer's position next to the partly open hangar door. Control boxes for the landing lights, deck lights, helicopter intercom and hangar door are against the bulkheads and a joystick unit is mounted on the deck. Fire extinguishers and a rectifier are against the port bulkhead of the hangar. The ship is berthed starboard side to the wall. A vertical format negative.
