On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the main passageway (known as the Burma Road) between 22 and 24 stations on 2 deck looking forward and slightly to port from 24 station showing an emergency portable generator in the left foreground. The watertight door at 23 station is open and an automatic emergency lantern is next to it. Through the door can be seen a water cooling unit and an international compressed air breathing apparatus Mk. 2 locker against the port side of the ship. A vertical format negative.
