On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the operations room between 31¼ and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking aft and to port from 33 station on the starboard side showing the three signal desks, two of which are equipped with a morse key. A large communications unit is at the back of two of the desks and the clock in this unit is reading 8.54. An illuminated screen is at the side of the aft desk and a fleet disposition board is by the side of the forward desk. The electronic warfare control position is in the background.
