On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the operations room between 31¼ and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking aft and to port from the centreline at 33 station showing the chart table with a Decca Navigator at the back of it. A deck plan of the ship, a junction box and a type 765 echo sounder with amplifier, power unit and flashing unit are against the port fly bulwark. Book racks containing pilot books and tide tables are against the aft bulwark.
