On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the wheelhouse between 27½ and 29 stations on 1 deck looking forward and to starboard. The wheel is in the foreground with the engine telegrah transmitter on the left and the revolution order transmitter on the right. The gyro compass warning lights, the port steering motor alarm bell, the A.G.M.C. tape repeater, the gyro compass tape repeater and the rudder indicator are against the forward bulkhead. A speaking tube up to the pelorous (sic) is under the deckhead on the right.
