The Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959). On the quarterdeck between 67 and 80½ stations on 2 deck.
On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is on the quarterdeck between 67 and 80½ stations on 2 deck looking to port from 71½ station on the centreline showing the quartermaster's position next to the bulkhead of the mortar handing room on the right. The main telephone cabinet is propped up on the deck instead of being mounted on the bulkhead. The watertight door to the mortar handing room is just ajar and to port of it is an heated locker under the stairs leading up to the flight deck on 1 deck. On the locker is a fire hose basket and another is under the locker. A fire hose nozzle is above a lifejacket locker by the port side screen. The ship is berthed starboard side to the basin wall. A vertical format negative.
