Plate 5. Coloured aquatint. Starboard view of the 18-gun barque, HMS Columbine (1826), coming to anchor against a background of grey skies and a low headland. She is still partially underway facing into a stiff breeze, indicated by the direction and spray off the waves and the blue ensign flying from the aft rigging. The sails on the fore and main masts are shown loosely furled, possibly for drying. Only three sails remain fully hoist, including a jib and spanker to provide manoeuvrability while coming to rest. Crew are seen working at the rigging on the foredeck. In the distance behind Columbine are two square-rigged ships under full sail with other vessels seen faintly on the horizon. In the the foreground a small craft approaches Columbine, heeling heavily to port in the wind.
