Inman Line. City of New York. City of Paris

Hand coloured vignette depicting the City of New York liner. Launched in 1888 and built in Glasgow, this steamship and her sister, the City of Paris were the last pair to be built for the Inman Line, and were considered very beautiful ships. The style of this print is soft and un-precise, and the artist's signature and inscription are written in an Art Nouveau style, notably less formal and stiff than most ship portrait inscriptions.
