The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a crane alongside the berth looking aft and to starboard showing the command platfrom over the enclosed bridge, the MRS3 director and the foremast between 50 and 75 stations. The top of the foremast is out of the picture. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
