The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast the bow looking aft and to starboard showing 'A' 4.5 inch Mark 6 mod. 1 gun turret at 1 deck level. Men are bringing stores aboard across the brow. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
