The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast the superstructure at 01 deck level looking forward and to starboard showing part of 'A' turret, the oiling at sea roller fairlead at the edge of 1 deck and 'B' turret on 01 deck. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner. The shipyard erecting shop is in the background.
