On board the County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on the port side of 01 deck at 152 station looking forward and to starboard showing the type 901 director at 02 deck level, the open hangar door and the mainmast with the AKE1 bedstead aerial for the type 965 radar at the top of it. Berthed on the opposite side of the basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, undergoing conversion to a dual purpose cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
