The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast the ship's superstructure at 01 deck level looking to starboard and slightly forward showing the port side of the superstructure at 01 and 02 deck levels between the forefunnel at 84 station and the mainmast at 100 station. Covered liferafts are at the deck edge and a bearded officer is standing on 01 deck next to the deck store door. The mainmast is on the right. Three senior shipyard officials and a lieutenant are on 02 deck. The Cunard vessel Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, is on the opposite side of the basin converting to a dual purpose transatlantic liner and cruise ship.
