The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside above the brow showing the gap in the ship's superstructure abaft the mainmast at 01 deck level. He is looking to starboard and very slightly aft showing the forward 25 feet motor cutter in its davits. The base of the mainmast is on the left and the base of the after funnel is on the right. The Cunard vessel Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, is on the opposite side of the basin converting to a dual purpose transatlantic liner and cruise ship.
